ABOUT MR. RYAN IP

Mr. Ryan Ip is a professional violinist and experienced music educator with over 15 years of teaching experience. He graduated from Western University and has been teaching violin to students of all ages and skill levels in Markham, Ontario. Known for his inspiring teaching methods, Mr. Ryan helps his students reach their full potential while fostering their self-confidence.

 

Mr. Ryan is known for his friendly, flexible, and patient demeanour. Young children enjoy his warm and approachable nature, while adult students appreciate the engaging conversations during lessons. He values communication with parents and actively encourages their involvement in their children's musical journeys.

 

Teaching Philosophy

 

Mr. Ryan believes that learning a musical instrument should be a fun and rewarding experience. He strives to make lessons enjoyable while emphasizing the importance of building a strong foundation. According to Mr. Ryan, a solid technical and musical foundation is essential for long-term growth, as it allows students to build their skills on a firm base.

Bibliography

 

Born in Hong Kong, Mr. Ryan Ip began studying the violin at the age of 8. By 13, he achieved the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Grade 8 with distinction. After moving to Canada with his family, Ryan continued his studies in Toronto, eventually enrolling at the University of Western Ontario's Don Wright Faculty of Music on the Scholarship of Excellence.

During his time at the university, Mr. Ryan studied violin with Steven Kruse, principal violist of the Kansas City Symphony, Flint Symphony, and Windsor Symphony, and with Virginia Barron, a member of the Chicago Symphony. He also studied music composition under Canadian composers Omar Daniel and Paul Frehner.
